CHRISTMAS MUSIC ON THE RADIO
Dallas' KVIL-FM asked for my input about Christmas Music and I gave it to them:
Playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving worked in 2001 ONLY! There was a very good reason for it THAT YEAR ONLY! Thanks to whoever thought of doing it!
But the last few years KVIL-FM has appeared to enjoy PISSING OFF listeners with early Christmas music. You've even used the same grumpy phone call several times and in years after the original year she called!
How about doing the old-timey thing and gradually increasing the Christmas Music/per hour starting the day after Thanksgiving and ending with the Grand Finale of all Christmas music Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!
Based on a message at the end of the survey they have no intentions to listening to me: Don't be surprised if they start Christmas music 11/14/08. PLUS: that's the day I could win a Christmas Sock Gift for participating in the survey. WHAT!?

Texas State Fair Deep Fried Food and Pickled Quail Eggs
Back in Kansas City I had seen pickled chicken eggs in huge jars back behind the bar ... only in Olathe, KS straight bars, I might add ... but had never eaten them.
Well, Oma's Pickled Quail Eggs caught my eye and since they are lots smaller than chicken eggs I decided to try them. [I ate (raw) Quail Egg Shooters at a sushi restaurant, so why not?]
Instant review: BORING! Those poor little Texas quail are shooting out all those eggs for naught ... in my opinion.
Later,
Steve

NORTH TX WEATHER, MEDIA METEOROLIGISTS AND IKE
The impending doom of IKE was certain reason for our friends south of us to evacuate and the damage it did to Houston, Galveston, Beaumont and other cities bears that out.
Now that we've seen IKE pass Dallas by, the non-stop coverage on at least one Dallas TV station [Channel 8] today now seems fruitless! [But, dang it, I would've loved to have been there is the thick of it!]
But there was also some humor to be found. While Houston/Galveston/Beaumont were being told to evacuate or die ... us North Texans were told this: Due to the potential of heavy rain and high winds, local residents should be reminded to secure lawn furniture, potted plants and garbageroll carts.
LOL! I secured my potted plants and went to a birthday party.

Gay Rich Dweebs Endorse The Old Guy
Who else would they endorse?
What about Palin's gaydar-pinging husband?
IMHO ... he's not the straightest board in the shed.
McCain gets Log Cabin's nodSaying Sen. John McCain is an "inclusive Republican," Log Cabin Republicans has endorsed his presidential bid. The endorsement comes despite the GOP's official platform, which advocates a constitutional amendment to restrict marriage rights. Log Cabin spokesman Scott Tucker said, "To be honest, the platform was not the hill we were going to die on. We wanted to be here and participate in the conversation." McCain is on record opposing marriage rights for gays and lesbians, but has expressed strong opposition to a federal constitutional ban. CQ Today (9/2) , CNN (9/3)

Why This? Because We Can!
School districts, businesses and such should use this, but us?
So I tested it. I put my own name in and found that "there ain't nothin' on me" in the database. (Oh, good. Those school zone speeding tickets from 1986 are no longer there!)
Then I keyed in the name of a former boyfriend and found stuff that ... makes me glad he's out of my life.

MORE "PREG MAN" BULL
Again: this LESBIAN couple are nothing more than a "circus freak show" and a huge embarassment to me and all other gay people.
Activists: Trans man's pregnancy did little to help causeThe "media circus" surrounding Thomas Beatie, the pregnant trans man who gave birth to a girl on June 29, has done little to help the transgender community in its effort to gain equal workplace and health care rights, according to an article in Salon. "The best thing that Thomas Beatie can do for the trans community is live his life as honestly as he can, and worry about what his immediate neighbors think of him, and how successful he is in his local community," said transgender policy adviser Jamison Green. "If people go back to accepting him as a man, that would be a big plus." Salon (7/3) , CBC.ca (7/4)

Cheyenne Jackson ... Keep An Eye Out For Him
Of course, he has a website [http://www.cheyennejackson.com/] and this is what I posted there:
Cheyenne, when you appeared during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade "Xanadu" number last November, I thought, "I know that handsome man from somewhere." I don't live in New York City [but I've visited there twice].
Then last night on The Tony's "Xanadu" number, there you were again and I went back through that thought process again.
Plainly said, Cheyenne: of course, I don't know you. However, I'm certain I'm not the only one who wishes I were friends with such a beautifully handsome man.

Mario Lopez Makes Debut On Broadway in ...
There's basically only one role he can play in the spirit of the script: the gay Latino boy two or three from the right in the movie version [and on stage, I think].
Come on out, Mario!

And Then There's The Alleged Pregnant Man
And I've tried to do the same with transgender people, but I don't understand them any better than a straight person understands me.
Now we have this: a female-to-male transgender who CHOSE to keep her female internal organs while changing all of the external stuff.
[From what I've read, all transgender people go through hell financially, emotionally and physically changing EVERYTHING when making the leap from one gender to the other.]
In this Pregnant Man thing I see a person who KNEW/HOPED he/she would get all of this media attention and perhaps was hoping to make money off his/her mutilation of his/her body.
I find that incredibly sick and pathetic.
And then there's THIS LINK:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in_article_id=548156&in_page_id=1811
AND THEN THERE'S THIS ADDITIONAL COMMENT [after reading emails from others]:
If she/he is really convinced that she is a man trapped in a woman's body ... once she/he jumped genders and became a man ... he/she can no longer function as a woman including bearing children. Since he/she has chosen to bear a child after the gender-jump ... he/she is NOTHING MORE THAN A WEIRD CIRCUS SIDE SHOW!
I am very angry about this situation because back in the 90's when I was a gay activist, transgenders insisted on being in the GLB acronym even though they generally claimed they are not gay ... yeah, right - this couple are gay activists.
And since I am happily and proudly gay [a "G" in what's now the GLBT acronym] I'm taking great offense at this PG Man thing because I want absolutely nobody to associate me with THESE GAY PEOPLE.

If you watch FoodTV, you've seen them use these red-orange gems and then went to the store to get some ... to find none.
You ain't gonna find these at Kroger.
If you have a Whole Foods Market or Central Market in your area go there now. Selling for $1.99/pound, I got these two for $3.00. That's a lotta dough for two oranges, but now I can say I've eaten Blood Oranges and they were delicious!
